Select Merge & Center. Unmerge Cells. Click the down arrow next to the Merge and Center button. Select Delete Cells.

Highlight the column with the numbers stored as text, open text to columns, select delimited, uncheck all the delimiters, make sure the formatting is general, and then click finish.
