Jul 27, 2017 · My split is only about 3/4 inch deep and it hasn't had any effect on my tongue function. I can still whistle just fine and have no problem eating or cleaning my teeth. A shallow split like mine seems to allow the tongue to work the same as it did before I split it, but it also prevents me from being able to do all the cool tongue tricks.

You’ll want it, regret it when you’re healing, and then you’ll love it when it’s done! The healing and pain is temporary for a lifetime of a tongue split. I, along with so many others, have questioned why the hell I did it on one of my most painful days while healing. It eventually ends and you’ll probably be happy with your decision.
