5 is usually seen as the weakest of the NES games. didn't add anything major gameplay wise to the franchise. and had a rather weak plot by the Classic series standart. honestly Inafune should've released the game on SNES with gameplay and lore ideas from Mega Man X1(which was developed around that time).

It’s a spot on critique. r/megaman seem to hate the general consensus on each game being challenged. X5 plays itself. X6 at least has the challenge of saving Reploids in actual levels. X5 could have been fantastic if a lot more effort went into it, but Inafune was trying to end the X series there for a reason.
